"The outstanding 2006 Trilogy (73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) is a large production cuvee of 6,500 cases. Revealing lots of roasted herb, cedar, black currant, and sweet cherry notes, an endearing, medium to full-bodied texture, exceptional elegance, purity, and length, stunning balance, and ripe tannins (no easy task in a vintage such as 2006), it should drink well for 10-15 years."

"One of the richest Cabernets of the vintage. Amazingly soft and velvety in the mouth, yet there’s a solid grip of acidity and tannins that balance the richness. The flavors are extraordinary, ranging from blackberry and cherry-pie filling through currant liqueur and milk chocolate to leather. So decadent now, it’s hard to resist, but should develop for 4-6 years."

“Hints of mango, quince, and musk added to the more predictable apple, vanilla, and liquid floral perfume and lend this an exotic touch, while its mineral side is dominated by striking salinity that enhances the savory stimulation of a long finish as well as offering a fascinating foil to the wine’s creaminess of texture and sheer ripeness. The wine seems to coat the palate while hovering above it, to seduce without touching. This should put on quite a show over the next 30 or more years. The Prums compare 2008 with 2004 and as such consider it a classic Spatlese year, with thankfully with more wine in the Kabinett range that this estate has seen in many years. And if you remain unconvinced after tasting the present collection that residually sweet Kabinett Riesling is capable not only of reflecting the full potential of great Mosel vineyard sites but also capable of profundity and greatness per se, then you never will be.”

“Nearly as impressive, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Out of Sight is produced from the Stags Leap area, and possesses more graphite and floral notes along with red and black currants and licorice. Its saturated purple color is among the darkest of all these wines. This elegant yet substantial 2007 should drink well for 15-20 years.”

“Medium red. Cherry, Indian spices and dried rose on the fragrant, smoky nose. Ripe and smooth on entry, then tighter in the middle, offering bitter cherry and black raspberry flavors perked up by a slow-mounting mineral quality. Seamless and focused pinot with impressive finishing clarity and smoky persistence. Balanced to age over the next few years but this drinks very well now with some decanting.”

"Sweet aromas of blackberry, spicy currents and flower petals. Intensely rich and pure on the attack with perplexing flavors of dark, ripe berry fruits and supple currants. Supported with a sturdy backbone of sea shell minerals and superbly balanced by firm tannins, this red is truly profound in terms of stability and persistence. Rich and opulent, tannins are smooth with lingering flavors of blackberry and spice. Best after 2012."
